"What is so bad about big government? My indictment of big government is that it is bad because it attacks liberty, prosperity, progress, harmony, and morality. Thanks to big government, we have significantly less of all of those good things than we would if we had been able to keep government right-sized. Big government is cancerous. Like a cancer, it hurts the body and tends to spread, doing more and more harm as it grows. It is time for some radical surgery." ― George C. Leef

SO in order to "help" the disabled, the Federal Government will force private businesses to allow 'service' HORSES inside of stores and restaurants. This is like a horse in a china shop... Literally! LINK

Good news! A federal judge has struck down a North Carolina provision that authorizes a ban on firearms and ammunition outside homes during "a declared emergency," determining that violates the Second Amendment. LINK

Obama is using 'carbon regulations' to prevent the building of any new coal plants. Even as energy prices skyrocket, Obama is working to stop America from producing more energy! LINK
This is a bad bill in both forms, and should be scrapped. This law is not only unneeded, but is written so broadly that it could result in felony convictions for Idahoans who are guilty of nothing more than having their cat run away. LINK
House Dems introduce $3.6 trillion budget plan which would add $6 trillion to deficit... Just how out of touch are these clowns?! LINK

"Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole — with their common aim of legal plunder — constitute socialism." — Frédéric Bastiat

The University of Colorado spent much of the past decade resisting the state's concealed-carry law; Colorado State University complied with it... Crime at the University of Colorado has risen 35 percent since 2004, while crime at Colorado State University has dropped 60 percent in the same time frame. More Guns = Less Crime! LINK
"Whenever there is some trouble in any area of the economy, the simplest solution to many people is 'Let the government fix it.' Yet... every time the government uses its money or its power to favor this group or that... the net result is such a web of supports, subsidies, interventions and controls that it is almost impossible for a nation to find its way back into a dynamic system of really free enterprise." ― Lawrence Fertig

Great news! An Idaho Senate committee killed the statist, anti-tanning bill that the House passed. LINK
Do you notice that every time an innocent individual is injured or killed with a firearm, someone always tries to make the argument that firearms should be more heavily regulated or banned, but no one ever seems to make the same case when the weapon used is a kitchen knife, baseball bat, or hammer? It's the person doing the killing, not the tool being used that is the issue. Yes, sometimes bad people do bad things, but please don't use those comparatively rare occurrences as an excuse to deprive me of my rights.
"Liberals believe government should take people's earnings to give to poor people. Conservatives disagree. They think government should confiscate people's earnings and give them to farmers and insolvent banks. The compelling issue to both conservatives and liberals is not whether it is legitimate for government to confiscate one's property to give to another, the debate is over the disposition of the pillage." — Walter Williams

I was afraid of this... The Trayvon Martin incident is being used as an excuse by the anti-gun folks to attack our natural right to defend ourselves. LINK
LA City Council Close To Resolution Regulating Free Speech of Radio Hosts! This is blatantly unconstitutional. LINK
Are you ready to "bury the hatchet" on the school levy issue? I'm betting all the folks who will be forced to make do with less food in order to pay for their property tax hikes aren't... Raising taxes during these difficult times was a very bad decision. LINK
Ron Paul is always consistent! In an interview with Jay Leno, Paul said that employing Secret Service is a "form of welfare." "You know, you're having the taxpayers pay to take care of somebody," Paul said. "I'm an ordinary citizen and I would think I should pay for my own protection, and it costs, I think, more than $50,000 a day to protect those individuals." LINK
This Supreme Court decision is a win for Mike and Chantell Sackett (who are Idahoans, by the way) but the decision did not go far enough in that it did not strike down the EPA's outrageous assertions regarding their land – it only gives them permission to challenge the EPA in court. LINK

No one was victimized by this man's failure to put siding on his home; and yet he was arrested, thrown in jail without bond, and then subjected to electronic home monitoring. We need More Freedom, Less Government! LINK

I'm very disappointed to see this bill pass the Idaho House. It gives too much power to the State, and can only be enforced through guesswork at best. We already have an inattentive driving statute on the books, and that was sufficient. LINK
Paul Ryan is calling for a budget that cuts Federal spending by $5.3 Trillion over 10 years... but it actually only cuts that from the projected growth of the Federal Government over 10 years. Some people are complaining that these cuts are too radical, while others (like myself) believe that they don't go far enough because they still allow for years of deficit spending. What are your thoughts on Paul Ryan's plan and the Federal Budget deficits in general? LINK
What are the most important issues facing Idaho right now? I can talk to you about my primary concerns, but I need to hear your opinions on these critical issues as well.
1.) The Economy ― Idaho needs more jobs, and the best way to ensure that we get them is to lower taxes and eliminate regulations. We can make Idaho the most business-friendly state in the nation simply by removing the many regulatory and financial obstacles that the state has placed in the path of creating and expanding businesses.
2.) State Sovereignty ― James Madison said, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government, are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." The State of Idaho is being dictated to and generally denied its sovereignty by an overbearing and out-of-control Federal Government that has grown significantly beyond the bounds which were intended by the framers of our Constitution.
3.) Our Second Amendment Rights ― Even here in Idaho, where our sacred right to keep and bear arms is upheld better than in many places, we are still restricted both by Federal and State laws which infringe upon our Constitutional rights. Two primary issues which need to be addressed at the State level are Constitutional Carry and Campus Carry. Constitutional Carry is the doctrine that the concealed carry of firearms should not require a government license but may be done by any person who can legally possess a firearm in any case. Campus Carry is the doctrine that State funded colleges and universities, as subdivisions of the State, should not enact rules or regulations which penalize students, faculty, or other employees or guests who carry firearms in a manner which they would be legally allowed to do off campus.
4.) Individual Freedom ― For far too long, our Country has been drifting away from the principles of individual freedom and personal liberty that it was founded to protect. Our State has too many regulations, requires too many licenses and permits, and places too many controls on individual choices that are none of its business.

Have Homeowner's associations and condo boards gotten completely out of control? One New Hampshire woman is being charged over $6,000 for planting flowers in her own front yard. Not only that, the board has placed a lien on her townhouse for their fines. LINK
The Idaho Senate has passed the very controversial mandatory ultrasound bill. What are your thoughts on this issue? Does this bill protect innocent life or invade individual privacy? Did the Idaho Senate make the correct decision? LINK
